  5. CITY MANAGER'S AWARD
  1. Employee of the Quarter

This is an award for up to three employees per quarter who have demonstrated extraordinary service to the City, fellow employees, or the public, and who act as positive role models in their daily work activities.

Nominations are accepted from employees and City residents, excluding elected and appointed officials. Nominations must be written, signed and dated by the nominator and submitted to Human Resources.  Forms for this purpose are available from Human Resources or by clicking here.  All nominations on file at the end of a calendar quarter will be considered for that quarter. The Personnel Committee meets within 30 days of the end of a quarter to evaluate the nominations and select the winner(s).

Awards: The winners receive either a $100 check or eight hours of annual leave. The awards are presented and nominees recognized by the City Manager in a manner preferred by the employee.

Winning this award makes an employee eligible for the Employee of the Year Award.

  1. Spencer Harris Awards

The Spencer Harris Award was established on May 10, 1988 by the Mayor and Council. It is an annual monetary award to the Public Works employee who best exhibits the high standard of public service embodied by the late Spencer Harris, a former dispatcher in the Department of Public Works (DPW).  To earn this coveted award, a Department of Public Works employee must be nominated by their peers in the department and rate highly in honesty, diligence, respect, flexibility, dedication, reliability, leadership, and initiative.  The Spencer Harris Award Committee selects the winner from among the nominees and the award is presented at the annual Safety Breakfast.

The winner of the Spencer Harris Award is automatically eligible to be considered for the Employee of the Year Award.

  1. Miriam Wolff Award
The Miriam Wolff Award is an annual monetary award to the administrative employee who best exhibits the high standards of dedication, integrity and public service embodied by the late Miriam P. Wolff, a former City Clerk.  Employees may nominate an eligible colleague between October 1 and October 15 of each year.  The winner is selected by an employee committee in November.  The winner is also eligible to be considered for the Employee of the Year Award.  Nomination forms may be obtained from Human Resources.
  1. EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
Each calendar year, all winners of Employee of the Quarter, Spencer Harris, and Miriam Wolff Awards are eligible for the Employee of the Year Award.  The Personnel Committee selects the winner and the award is presented by the City Manager.  The winner receives a cash award of $500.
  1. CITY MANAGER'S AWARD
The City Manager has the discretion to present the City Manager's Award to any employee for distinguished service or an outstanding activity or event.
