With beautiful flowers, warmer temperatures, and more outdoor activities comes another spring favorite - the College Park Farmers Markets!
On May 4 and 5, 2019 the Hollywood and Downtown Farmers Markets respectively return to begin their seasons! Whether you are looking for local, farm to table fruits and veggies, locally raised meats and eggs, or a variety of artisanal foods and products, it's all there at the farmers markets.
Both markets will return to their previous locations. Hollywood Farmers Market is located in the Hollywood Shopping Center off of Edgewood Road and Rhode Island Avenue by the recently expanded MOMs grocery store. The Downtown Farmers Market will return to City Hall for one more year before construction begins on the new City Hall.
New this year to both farmers markets, the Department of Public Works will have a food scrap drop-off area for residents to bring their collected compostable waste. If you're already going to the farmers markets, then this is a great opportunity to bring your vegetable peelings, fruit cores, food soiled paper products and more to be locally composted while you shop! For more information, visit www.collegeparkmd.gov/foodscraps.
This year's Downtown Farmers Market season brings many returning businesses and several new ones as well. Dodo Farm, Gentle Flours, Amity Thai, Blue Ming, and Sugar Plug are among the list of vendors returning to the markets this year.
Businesses who are interested in vending at the markets this year should contact the City’s Economic Development at rchelton@collegeparkmd.gov or 240-487-3543 for more information.
The Hollywood Farmers Market occurs on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the Downtown Farmers Market operates on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
