College Park, MD June 30, 2022 – The City of College Park is pleased to announce that Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem Denise Mitchell has been elected President of the Maryland Municipal League’s (MML) 2022-2023 Board of Directors. Councilmember Mitchell, who represents the City’s District 4, was inducted at the 2022 MML Summer Conference in Ocean City in mid-June. “It is a great honor to have been elected to help support the needs and interests of the more than 150 cities and towns that are a part of MML” said Councilmember Mitchell.
Located in Annapolis, MML is an association that represents 157 municipal governments and two special taxing districts in Maryland. A statewide organization, MML works to strengthen and support Maryland municipal governments through advocacy and other means. Also elected to the new slate of MML’s Board of Directors, Mayor Patrick L. Wojahn will serve as District Vice President for District 9. Both positions are one-year appointments.
Mayor Wojahn currently serves as President of the Prince George’s County Municipal Association (PGCMA) which represents the 27 municipalities within Prince George’s County. This is the first time the City has had members of the Mayor and Council serve as presidents of both organizations at the same time.
Congratulations to Councilmember Mitchell and Mayor Wojahn!
