Location
3545 Marlbrough Way
Status
Phase-1 of the project, razing of the building and demolition of the pools was completed July 2020. Grading and site preparation to accommodate constructing of a new building was completed in September 2021.
Due to various challenges at the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic including supply chain and labor shortages, ballooning material costs and delays with obtaining permits, the City found it prudent to amicably end the contractual agreement with the former contractor at the completion of phase-1.
Currently design plans are under review at PG County Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE). The City is working to hire an architectural firm to assist with finalizing permit compliance, prepare construction contract bids and provide administration and engineering with construction of the new community clubhouse
About the Project
The City of College Park purchased the property called the College Park Swim Club July 2018. The City asked Buchart Horn Architects to perform a facility assessment report to determine costs to repair, replace, and upgrade the necessary components of the facility and advise on recommended steps to proceed with the project. On January 22, 2019 staff outlined the recommended steps forward to the Council and received council feedback to decommission the pool by filling it in and consensus to construct a new clubhouse facility to host city and community meetings and various events.
